The West Custer County Library, in collaboration with Custer County Tourism, is celebrating the new Past & Present historical digest and the beautiful place we call home with a July photo contest for adults. In assembling the new Past & Present booklet, Tourism discovered that there are gaps in the Custer County historical image collection housed in the Library archives. Together, we are hoping that citizens can help contribute to the West Custer County Local History Collection with their photos from the past—images that captured life in the valley in the 19th and 20th centuries.
There are two photo categories—pictures of the Wet Mountain Valley from the past and pictures of the Valley from the present—any picture theme is welcome. Pictures from the past should be from personal photo collections.
Contestants 18 and over may submit pictures for one or both categories beginning Saturday, July 1st and ending Saturday, July 29th. Selected pictures will be displayed in the library over the summer for the community to view and enjoy.
Please submit high-resolution digital copies of your old photos or visit the Library front desk for scanning assistance. Email photo(s) to cathy@westcusterlibrary.org Please include in your email permission to allow the photo(s) to be posted in the Library for the duration of the contest, and permission to post the photo on our website and Facebook if you win. Photos can be dropped off at the Library. Enrollment forms are available at the Library front desk. Thank you for your participation in telling the story of Custer County.
